Here are the latest updates on MayDOG activities.

1. MayDOG has applied for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS. We should know within the next 2 months whether our application has been approved. While we are already a registered non-profit corporation in the state of Massachusetts, having Federal tax-exempt status will give us the ability to apply for grants and will mean that your donations would be tax deductible. We'll let you know as soon as we hear.
2. Good news from Provincetown - the Pilgrim Bark Park is now open. The Provincetown Dog Park Association, which led the efforts to establish the park, did an amazing job in a really short amount of time -- they were incorporated in 2007, got tax-exempt status in May 2008, and the park opened last month! The group has raised over $100,000 for the park, which features sculptures from local artists. The photo from their Board of Selectmen's meeting where all the supporters are holding up signs saying "YES DOG PARK" is inspiring!
3. MayDOG's participation in the holiday parade on December 7 was great fun. You can see some pictures in our online photo gallery.
4. On December 9, several members of MayDOG met with town officials (the town administrator, assistant town administrator, and health officer) to discuss our ideas. The meeting went very well and was a great step toward the next important discussions with the Board of Selectmen. You can read the meeting notes from that meeting on our website.
