Hi everyone,

We're still accepting nominations for the Dog-Friendly Maynard Award!

We want to promote our local businesses, and one way we think small businesses can have the edge over the big chain stores is by being friendly to dogs.

Here are the nominees so far:

• Erickson's Dairy: They give free doggie ice cream to customers who bring their dogs
• Aubuchon Hardware: Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed inside the store, where an employee is likely to hand out a treat
• Maynard Barber Shop: Always have a treat for passing dogs
• Look Optical: Provide a water bowl for passing dogs
• Ray & Sons Cyclery: Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome inside the store

Maynard Selectwoman Sally Bubier will be presenting the award on Saturday, August 1 at noon at the Farmers' Market. Be there to show your support for the winner!

Also on August 1, MayDOG will present Kids & K-9s Play Safely. Free stickers, coloring books, and handouts, and two fun workshops for kids at 10am and 11am.
