About the Dog Park
History
MayDOG first approached the Town Of Maynard about the possibility of opening an Off Leash Recreation Area (Dog Park) in 2007. The outcome of many meetings and discussions was that a Dog Park was going to be created in conjunction with the construction of the Solar Array project on Waltham Street. Clearing of the wooded area, fencing and the creation of the double gated entrance was sponsored by EPB Solar LLC.
The Maynard Dog Park officially opened on August 9, 2014.
Location and Size
The Dog Park is located on Waltham Street in Maynard, MA, adjacent to the Solar Farm. The fenced in area is approximately half an acre, the map of the site may be found here.
Use of the Park
The park is free and open to all dog owners (for exceptions please refer to the park rules). Dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccinations as well as licensed in owner’s town of residence. For safety reasons, the following are not be allowed in the park: aggressive dogs, dogs in heat, puppies younger than 4 months, and children younger than 9 years. We also expect all users to follow the posted Park Rules which can be found here (Rules) as posted at the Dog Park.
Maintenance
Upkeep, waste removal and cleaning of the dog park depend exclusively on volunteers and donations. No government, or Town funding is used for the park. We need all the volunteers, help, material and financial donations we can get in order to keep the park mulched, the waste bag stations filled, the waste removed regularly, the trees trimmed and the fence maintained. Please consider a financial donation – every little bit will help!
