MayDOG Volunteer Needs

Volunteer Coordinator
Tasks/Responsibilites: 
  • Help recruit & train new volunteers
  • Coordinate scheduling of volunteer coverage for events & activities (including park maintenance)
  • Maintain contact list of active volunteers and their skills/interests
Skills:  Communication, detail/logistics, friendly personality
Time Commitment:  Flexible – Avg. 2 hrs/week

Fundraising Volunteer (2-3 people)
Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Work with board and Fundraising Coordinator to execute fundraising
    plans/events
  • Staff events and assist with campaigns
  • Educate prospects (individuals and businesses) about MayDOG and solicit support
Skills: Good communication, friendly/positive personality, enthusiasm
Time Commitment: Flexible – Avg. 2 hrs/wk; may range from 0-6 hrs/wk.

Membership Coordinator
Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Process new individual & business memberships; update database; send acknowledgements & membership materials
  • Follow up on renewals
  • Generate ideas to grow membership
  • Contribute to member newsletter
  • Plan occasional community & member events; suggest speakers, themes, activities of interest to constituents
Skills: Good communication/writing skills, eye for detail, enthusiasm
Time Commitment: Flexible – Avg. 2 hrs/wk

Artist/Graphic Designer
Tasks/Responsibilities: 
  • Create designs for print, online & other materials on
    an occasional project  basis
  • Suggest  &
    implement ideas to improve visual appeal of MayDOG materials
Skills: Graphic design 
Time Commitment: Flexible – 2-4 hrs as needed

Dog Park Maintenance Volunteers 
Tasks/Responsibilities: 
Participate in regular park clean-ups; pick up and bag waste and debris; clear fallen brush, etc.; help to maintain park amenities, fencing, benches, etc. 
Skills: No special skills needed, other than ability to perform moderate physical activity
Time Commitment: Flexible  – 1-2 hrs as needed


 
Event/Booth Volunteers (2-8 people)
Tasks/Responsibilites:
  • Staff MayDOG booths at local farmer's markets and special events
  • Greet the public, provide information, encourage participation
Skills:  Communication, friendly/outgoing personality
Time Commitment:  Flexible commitment; usually on weekends, some
evenings.  Avg. commitment: 2-5 hrs/event

PR/Publicity Coordinator
Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the board, publicize MayDOG & its events/activities via traditional & new media
  • Flyers, brochures, handouts
  • Press releases, free ads in local media
  • Website/FB updates, online newsletter
  • Seek out & take advantage of new local publicity oppurtunities, with a focus on growing membership & financial support base.
  • Take photos at MayDOG events; produce & post topical video segments
Skills: Excellent
Time Commitment: Flexible – Avg. 2 hrs/wk

Grant Researcher/Writer
Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Working with MayDOG board, research & identify corporate & foundation grant opportunities
  • Write applications & coordinate submission of materials
Skills: Grant writing/non-profit development/project management experience; good writing skills; attention to deadlines & details
Time Commitment: Flexible – Avg. 2-3 hrs/wk

Photo/Video Volunteer 
Tasks/ Responsibilities:
  • Take  photos at MayDOG events for use in publicity efforts
  • Produce  & post topical/informative video segments
  • Obtain  necessary releases for use of photos & videos

Skills: Photo/video skills; access to equipment 
Time Commitment: Flexible  – 2-3 hrs as needed
